Rhythms of Rajasthan" on Tour of USA (September 2009)

A group of 8 members including musicians from langa and manganiar as well as famous dancer of kalbelia community "Suva Devi" toured USA to give perfromance in 6 major cities of America. The group had a great response at every venues which include the grand performance at India Calling Night at Hollywood Bowl, LA on 20 September 2009.

Participation in 1st International Sufi Music Festival, Amman, Jordan (April 2009)

A group of 5 sufi musicians led by Mr. Nitin Harsh participated in 1st International Sufi Music Festival, Amman, Jordan organized by Jordanian Music Forum and Culture Ministry of Jordan. The group performed in opening and closing ceremony. Prince El-Hassan Bin Talal honored our group for their excellent performance. His Excellency Ambassador of Indian High commission in Jordan was also chief guest during the concert.
Production of documentary “Colors of Rajasthan: In English (January-March 2009)

Colors of Rajasthan, is a cultural documentary exploring the rich cultural heritage of Rajasthan. INDIA. The film reveals the musical heritage of the Langa and Manganiar dance of the Kalbeliya and Kamad women, Puppetry art of Bhaat community, stunning acrobatic stunts by Raj Nat and Epic narrations by the Nayak devotees of Pabuji.

Cultural Tour to Tehran, IRAN of Folk Musicians of Rajasthan. (January 2008)

A group of sufi musicians led by Mr. Nitin Harsh and Mr. Safat Ali participated in 23rd Fadjr Music Festival organized by Government of IRAN. The group presented two performances for the festival at WAHADAT HALL and NEOVARAN Theatre. The group also rendered a performance for the Indian Embassy at the Central School of INDIA at Tehran.
Traditional Mujra Documentation. (March 2008)
Our team did the video recording of Traditional Mujra, which is a highly expressive dance form of INDIA. RFS team recorded two compositions of Traditional Mujra. This was a joint project with ASIAN MUSIC CIRCUIT, London for their film project.

paricipation in 25th World Perfroming Arts Festival, Lahore, Pakistan (March 2008)
A group of 15 perfroming artists which include kalbelia dancers, musicinas and puppeteers participated in the 25th World Perfroming Arts Festival, Lahore, Pakistan orgnized by Rafi Peer Theatre Workshop. The group perfromed at the Al-Hamara Complex near Gaddafi Stadium for thousands of audience. The group was main highlight of the festival.

Documentation of Puppetry Tradition of Rajasthan (January-February 2007)

Our team did very important documentation of Kathputli, the puppetry tradition of Rajasthan in three part including:

Documentation of Rajnat, Acrobats of Rajasthan. (March 2007)

From the inspiration and guidance of Late Komal Kothari, Nitin Harsh has done some documentation on the Acrobats of Rajasthan. It was the Komal Da’s idea to produce a documentary on the RAJNAT. According to Mr Nitin Harsh It was his pleasure to complete a documentary on the RAJNAT under his upcoming documentaries series.
Musical Concert of Rajasthani Folk Artists, Jodhpur (12th May 2007)

On the occasion of Jodhpur Foundation Day, Nitin Harsh directed a musical concert with 25 Folk Musicians at the JNV Town Hall. The central theme of the concert was “the RAAG SOOB”. It was one hour non stop musical concert, which captured the audience till end of the show. The concert was jointly organized by Mehrangarh Museum Trust and Swar Sudha Organisation.
Cultural Tour to Tula, Russia of Folk Musicians of Rajasthan (15th-20th May 2007).

A group of young langa musicians led by Mr. Nitin Harsh visited Tula, Russia, for participation in First International Youth Theatre Festival. The festival was organized with the theme of “Violence and Art”. Mr. Nitin Harsh Presented a musical theater with the Langa Musicians called “Beyond The Border”
Cultural Tour to Prague, Czech Republic of Puppeteers ( 26thMay to 3rd June 2007)

A Group of Puppeteers of Rajasthan led by Nitin Harsh visited Prague, Czech Rebuplic to participate in 11th World Festival of Puppet Art. The festival was organized by International Institute of Marionette Art, Prague. The Group perfromed at Kinsky Theate, Prague. The Tour was supported by Mehrangarh Museum Trust, Jodhpur.
Folk RAGAS Documentation (June and July 2007)

Few important recording has been done by our team under ongoing project “Documenation and Preservation of Folk RAGAS”. RFS team documented few senior musicians like Sakar Khan Manganiar (Kamaicha), Lakha Khan Manganiar(Sindhi Sarangi) and Pempe Khan Manganiar (Mruli and Shanai)
“Back To The Roots” a collaboration project with TARHANA Nomadic music band and Folk Artists of Rajasthan. (October 2007)

Tarhana is a tribe of musicians that is based in Amsterdam and founded by Sjahin During. They choose to blend the traditional Balkan and Oriental Flavours with Afro-Anatolian grooves. Spicing up Ottoman sound-scapes, digital Sufi grooves, Gypsy melodies, North African rhythms and sounds from these ancient cultures. Mr. Nitin Harsh, Mr. Neil Van Linden and Mr. Sjahin During did jointly the project “Back To The Roots”. The project is based on the history of Gypsies. According the Historical facts it is well accepted that the gypsy tradition in all over the world has the roots to the Rajasthan and Punjab. The Musical collobartion with the Tarhana and Rajasthani Musicians were quite successful. They did three performance together in Jodhpur at the occasion of Marwar Festial and Jodhpur Rajasthan Intenational Folk Festival (October 2007)

Bhavai Folk Drama Video Documentation

We organized folk drama of Bhavai community in the month of April-2006 at village anewa, Desuri, Pali district. Bhavai is a popular folk theatre form of Mewar region in Rajasthan. In the present context some 13 dramas based on religion, historical and spritual contents are staged by the Bhavai artists. Some of these are Chand Maliyagir, Raja Harishchandra, Bhai-Bhahan, Satywan Savitri etc.
Participation in National Workshop on ‘Revival of Traditional Media in Effective Implementation in Rural Development Programmes’ organized by NIRD-Hydrabad.
This National Workshop organized by Centre for Media and Rural Documentation (CMRD) at National Institute of Rural Development (NIRD) was held with the objective of brainstorming and determining how best to take advantage of the traditional media to make rural development programmes more effective. Strategies and framework were discussed to develop a network to intensify efforts in reviving the traditional media to get its due share through interface between civil society groups and media institutions on one side and government agencies on the other. The other objective is to integrate traditional media with electronic media for publicizing the rural development programmes. It was also felt that there is a need for the concerned Ministries of the Government of India to increase the use of traditional media in the IEC campaigns for rural development.
Among 41 participants who attended the National Workshop were Senior Government officials from IEC Unit of Ministry of Rural Development, State Institutes of Rural Development ( SIRD), District Rural Development Agencies (DRDAs), officials from Ministry of Information and Broadcasting – All India Radio, Doordarshan, Press Information Bureau, Song and Drama Division, Field Publicity, and others from Tribal Development Department, NGOs, Panchayati Raj and other departments, Activists, University Heads, Research Scholars etc.

We have recorded this world famous religious URS of Ajmer (Khawza Mouinudin Chisti Dargah Sharif), where people of many casts and sect come to attend it. This video documentation features various activities that goes around during the Urs.
Survey and documentation of Manganiar’s villages affected by flood
This year monsoon a flood has been badly affected the villages of Jaiselmer, Jodhpur & Barmer districts of western part of Rajasthan. It has resulted in loss of life and property of many of the musicians. With an objective of inviting help to these musicians we have done a video documentation featuring the calamity and its after effects.
Participation in NEW ART NET – International Conference for Young Managers in Performing Arts, Belgrade, Serbia .
New Art Net Conference was conceived as an innovative platform for arts management themes, contact making and exchange among performing arts managers from all over the world, with sessions delivered by international keynote speakers as well as participant’s presentations. This conference was a starting point in Belgrade for new developments in performing arts sector, aiming at upgrading the participants’ knowledge, increasing international cultural cooperation, facilitating exchange of experiences and fosters development and growth of managerial skills and expertise within the region and further. Partners in the project – Jugokoncert (Bemus), Bitef (Theatre/Festival) and ArtLink - work in the fields of: classical and contemporary music, contemporary theatre and multicultural dialogue. Although these institutions come from different areas, their common goals are: development of partnerships, creating co-productions, stimulating international artistic exchanges and development of different kinds of resources in cultural management.
Folk Performing Arts Multimedia Exhibitions in various Schools.
To create rightful awareness and effectively implement the folk performing medium in education we organized Multimedia Exhibitions in village schools. We exhibited posters related to various perfroming arts of rajasthan. In end of the exhibition We also screened the documentary film "Rajasthan : a musical journey".We had a great response form the students as well as the teachers of school.
Digitization of old photographs of Langa and Manganiars with collaboration of Lok Sangeet Sansthan, Hamira, Jaisalmer..
With an objective of archiving and preserving the old photographs of master musicians and their family members we have digitalized the old photographs available in Lok Sangeet Sansthan, Hamira, Jaisalmer. In this project we digitize over hundred of old rare photographs of manganiar community. this collection include the photographs releted to their customs, day to day life, weddings, perfromance etc.
Recording and documentation of folk songs based on folk deity Tejaji.
We documented this folk tradition popular among the Jat community of western Rajasthan. this tradition is in honour of their hero deity Veer Tejaji. We have done primary recording with some of the senior singers of community.
